1. Limiting the Unlimited
A) Human Forgiveness: “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up
to seven times?” Matthew 18:21
B) Heavenly Pardon: “I do not say... up to seven times,but up to seventy times seven.” Matthew
18:22
2. Paying the Unpayable!
A) Humanity’s Debt: “One was brought to [the King] who owed him ten thousand talents. But as
he was not able to pay...” Matthew 18:24-25
B) Heaven’s Payment: “The servant...fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience...’
Then the Master...moved with compassion...forgave him the debt.” Matthew 18:26-27
3. Forgiven yet Unforgiving
A) Unforgiving to man: “His fellow servant fell down...and begged...‘Have patience...’ And he
would not, but went and threw him into prison...” Matthew 18:29-30
B) Unforgiven to God: “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart,
does not forgive his brother...” Matthew 18:35
